Today, compressor type selection seems to depend more on individual preference than on analysis. There are several reasons for this. Plant engineers must know what type of compressor they are commissioning, its characteristics and behavior, and the relationship between the machine and system.The manufacturer provides the compressor, not the system. It is the plant engineer’s responsibility to make them work in harmony together, not the manufacturer nor the design engineer.
